Taylor Collins is offering journal writing workshops Taylor says: “Studies are proving that introspective writing has positive health benefits. After 30 years of journaling during a lifetime of challenges, I can ascertain that writing is indeed a lifesaver.” She feels that everyone carries some piece of the puzzle and that leaving a written record of one's lived life is a worthy pursuit for everyone.
She offers two approaches to journal writing to accommodate the busy schedules of today's hectic world. She currently offers a monthly session and weekly ones.
MONTHLY Workshop - One Session on Second Sunday's
Monthly journal writing workshops are held on second Sunday's each month from 2 - 5 unless otherwise noted. The next session meets Sunday, July 10. The series is entitled "Finding Yourself in Time." Taylor has designed her series of workshops as a process of self-discovery centered around monthly themes. These sessions are $15.
These workshops offer a steady-paced method through writing and are designed to fully utilize the handwritten journaling to its fullest. Using basic pen to paper methods to anchor your initial thoughts to page is a proven analog method which participants will use as well as more advanced methods of journaling. Participants will improve the habit of writing in a more introspective way and improve skill levels.
Prticipants will be directed to invaluable writing resources and methods. Day books, travelogues and project specific journaling techniques will be explored. Interesting additional resources and ideas will expand your thoughts as a way of discovery into what you are truly interested in. Each monthly theme has been chosen for its universality as journaling by hand is liberating. And as you increase your awareness and learn through your writing what your deeper interests are, you will often be amazed as to what connections you will find in your thought patterns.
July's theme will cover "Place" and explores some techniques to make you more aware of the spaces and the places contained within and without . Weekly writing sessions can supplement the monthly Sunday workshops. Details are available by contacting Collins for guideleines and additional information on workshops and/or weekly writing sessions. Collins, an artist and writer, is a partner in Parke Green Galleries. She is a published writer and is working on several writing projects.
